Steven Bankert - North Attleboro Entrepreneur with Conservation Focus

Steven Bankert maintains a prominent presence in the North Attleboro, Massachusetts, business community dating back to the 1980s. Having built up a successful electrical contracting enterprise, he diversified into owning and operating dozens of local laundromats. This solved cashflow issues that arose in an era before direct deposit, when payments might occur as late as 90 days after a job’s completion. In the process, Steven Bankert gained vital skills fixing washers and dryers and ensuring that laundry locations were fully functioning and welcoming to customers.

Mr. Bankert expanded his businesses over the years to include ice cream trucks, which profitably plied neighborhoods during the hot summer months. His venture allowed local college students to work hard for a short amount of time and save money for tuition. He also acquired and led ice cream shops and, most recently, owned, revitalized, and operated the popular indoor family entertainment center Kidz Wurld.

Wetlands conservation has been an important facet of Mr. Bankert’s identity since the time he moved into a house with a pond on the property. On one hand, he appreciates the importance of building and construction, and local economic growth. On the other hand, he feels it's important for land owners to be wise stewards of natural resources and biotic communities. Steven Bankert has experience on the Finance Committee of North Attleboro, and he has also served on the Lions Club in Plainville.
